Honorable Late Mr. Tatyasaheb alias Rajaram Damodar Herwadkar was the founder chairman of the Miraj Education Society, who took initiative to establish the society, served it honestly and tried his best for the stability of the institution. On Tuesday, 3rd July, 1951.a general meeting of The Miraj Education Society was held at Idomax Factory of Mr. Jaykar. At that time, Late Dr. Dattopant S. Bhadbhade was elected as the president. Eminent education lovers in Miraj were present there. All tried to take Jubilee English Girls’ School under the control of society. At the time of possession, the Mumbai Government stipulated economical condition to the society. For the compliance, Late Mr. R.D. Herwadkar, Late Mr. R. H. Jaykar, Late Advocate R.B. Abhyankar, Late Mr. D.S. Bhadbhade, Late Dr. M.S. Karandikar,Late Dr. K.G. Gadre deposited Rs. 20000/- by taking personal loan form Miraj State Bank. This is a remarkable thing, We will be always in their debt forever. Because of their tireless efforts, on 10th June, 1952, the Society got official possession of the school. In the progress of Society and school the institution always faces some difficulties such as lack of space, insufficient building and lack of funds. But so many magnanimous education lovers co-operated to overcome these obstacles. Late Mr. R.H. Jaykar, director of the society, donated his allowance as the director of Miraj Electricity Company to the society, during renewal of old building to fulfil the requirement of modern science laboratory, Late Mr. V.P. Bapat Advocate and his son Advocate Subhash Bapat donated place and Dr. Prani as well as Dr. Bhadabhade gave economic help in remembrance of their father respectively. These laboratories have given names of founder directors Late Dr. D.S. Bhadbhade and Late Dr. R.D. Prani. In 1974, Society member Late D.C. Patwardhan was the chairman of building committee. His nephew, eminent-singer Late Sudhir Phadake (Babuji) sang ‘Geet Ramayan’ on the school ground. After deducting the programme expenses Sudhir Phadake spontaneously offered economic help of Rs. 5471/- to the Society. Lord Govindrao Marathe, Late Dr. Gosavi, Late Madhukarrao Deval and so many such wealthy persons help the society and ‘hejeshekeâejeLe& Fob Mejerjced’ with this obsession with all respects gave their contribution to the school. The society is having great customary of Presients. Late Tatyasaheb Herwadkar, Late. D.S. Bhadbhade, Late Dr. R.D. Prani, R. N. Ghorpade (Sarkar), Late Dr. M.S. Karandikar, Advocate Mr. S.R. Kulkarni, Late T.N. Deval, Late V.D. Pendase, Late Dr. R.M. Shinde, Late Advocate Mr. Dattopant Naware, Mr. P.N. Mahabal, Mr. C.S. Karandikar, Mrs. Vijayatai Deval as well as the eminent citizens of Miraj in social field, efficiently accepted the responsibility of various posts of the society. With their competency, these social workers contributed a lot in the glory of the school. "Service to society is the service to god" with this feeling these devoted, selfless persons worked hard & school became magnificient and elegant "The small plant developed into vine touched the skies." From the beginning, Jubilee Kanya shala has tradition of such eminent Head Masters who worked only for the good of girls. They all worked hard to fulfil the dream to make the girls efficient, capable, gritty and competent ladies. In the regime of Headmasters, the work of Ghorpade sir is very remarkable for the society. Mr. K.R. Ghorpade sir was honoured with National Award for his project on irradication of untouchability. He was also given a state Ideal Teacher Award by Governer Mr. Sadik Ali. Because of these things, the school became famous all over Maharashtra and increased the reputation of the society. The school started with only 27 girls, when handed over to the society, the strength reached upto 250, the school and the society within short period achieved reputation. The society was included in the list of such limited institutions which were working only for women education. From the beginning, the society got co-operation from devoted founders and teachers, the society and the school got great honour in the society. The sweet fruit of these, the strength increased upto more than 1535 girls. The society understood the social need of Miraj city and started nursery for Marathi medium as well as Nootan Bal Vidhyala, a primary Marathi medium school for 1st to 4th standards. To meet the requirement of English medium school, M.E.S. English medium school is also started. This is non-grantable school. Likewise Jubilee Junior College is also started for the girls of 11th and 12th on non-grantable basis. In this Junior College, there are three faculties – Arts, Commerce and Science. Computer education is also given in the school. For 11th and 12th we are starting computer and electronics. From 5th Standard, the school is having semi-English system. To overcome the problem of ample place, the society has just completed the construction of increased floor. There are six up-to-date class-rooms on this floor. New 12 toilets have also been constructed. The society is having ex-students organization which takes part in the development of the society. Likewise all the office bearers, teachers and society directors are giving their valuable contribution in the development of the society. Expansion of the society –
Objectives of the Society -To achieve success in this competitive modern age, recognizing the responsibility of women's education, to develop our area through vocational education, the society has decided to present the future plans. To fulfil them, we need your co-operation.
We cordially appeal to the well – wishers of the society, parents, former and present staff members and specially the former students, the school has entailed you status and sacraments and this debt is unrefundable. The development of our institution and society is nothing but the development of faminity. For this, we are asking for alms in the form place, building and money. Jubilee English Girls’ School was founded on 6th March, 1937 with the inspiration of Maharshi Karve, Chiplunkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Agarkar. In pre independence period, on the auspicious occasion of Silver Jubilee of his coronation, his Highness Balasaheb Patawardhan of Miraj State, started the first girls school in Miraj. On remembrance of this incident, the school is named as ‘Jubilee’. Late Mr. P. H. Kurlekar sir was the first Head Master of the school. First of all, the school started at Kurundwadkar wada (a big house) with 27 girls and two teachers. Late Mr. Lakhaba Mahabal and Late Mr. B.L. Joshi in very adverse condition, because of the efforts of Kurlekar sir, the school continued to progess. Late Mr.Krishnaji Ganesh Paranjape, Late Mr. Ramchandra Ganesh Watave, Late Mr. Govind Krishnaji Sidhaye, Great sports sage Late Mr. Mahadev Dattatray Karmarkar (Vaidya), Late Mr. S. P. Watave (Shamrao), these teachers co-operated Mr. Kurlekar sir a lot. In all these efforts, His highness Balasaheb Patwardhar and her highness Laxmibai Patwardhan offered a great co – operation.
